- There
Are Two Ways To Get Your Class A CDL License -
Each Has Advantages and Disadvantages
(1) Go to a certified
truck driving school. (Best Option)
Independent driving schools
can range from $3,000 up to $8,000 - and sometimes even more.
The average cost is between $4,000 and $5,000. It's very important
to choose the right school not only because of the cost, but there
are many schools that are not certified and there is no guarantee
of a job when you graduate.
TCA is well connected
with various independent CDL training schools that are not only
highly regarded and accredited, but work very closely with us
for job placement.
The certified independent schools
in our network have an excellent ratio of graduates. The classes
are smaller which means that each student is able to receive
more individual attention.
-
Training takes 3
weeks and upon graduation, you are eligible for hire.
-
There is no contract
requirement with the hiring company since you have graduated
from a certified independent school.
-
The hiring trucking
company will pay up to $150 per month towards the cost of
training through a tuiton reimbursement agreement.
(2) Go to a company
sponsored school.
Typically, you are required
to sign an employment contract for at least one year. If certain
company requirements are not met, you are responsibile to pay
back the training and related expenses. In addition, company sponsored
type programs have a high number of students in ratio to the instructors.
Generally, a large perfentage of students per class will not complete
training.
NOTE: Due to the current
economy, company sponsored CDL programs are not available until
further notice.
