Many years ago, before I began Trucking Careers of America, I was a recruiter for a large independent truck driving school in the southeast. My job was to recruit new students to attend that school. Applicants were required to pay an initial cost of $250 at the time of our interview, and $4990 to attend the school. The up front deposit of $250 was paid to the recruiter, which meant the applicant was paying the recruiter out of his own pocket with no guarantee of getting financed for the balance - or - a job upon graduation!

Applicants needed a good credit rating to be considered for financing by the trucking school of the remainder of $4990. Often a co-signor was needed. The student was then responsible for most of their transportation and housing expenses. It was a costly and somewhat risky arrangement as there was no guarantee from the school of a job upon graduation. The majority of students had to find a job on their own. Many were unsuccessful....It didn't take me long to realize that there was a much better way! .
